In an analysis note to investors in the past, FBR Capital Markets analyst Craig Berger wrote that Apple could sell an astonishing 250 million iPhone 5 units across the device's lifespan. The unit may possibly also drive $50 in earnings per share, as well as $47 billion profit, during its lifecycle, "representing a largest single product opportunities in Apple's history."

If Apple were to provide 250 million iPhone 5 units, may mark a dramatic uptick in whole sales simply iOS-based devices. In the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Apple announced that it had sold a cumulative 365 million iOS devices near the end of March.
